AKIBA LOST turns a thirteen-year cold case into live-action TV you investigate

IzanagiGames' live-action suspense adventure ships with three systems that make the footage playable: Zapping, Select, and a free 360-degree view.

A disappearance you can look at from every angle

Thirteen years before the game's events, six girls vanished in Akihabara in what became known as the "Akiba's Spirited Away" incident — no clues, no trace. In the present day, director Daiki Shinjo announces a live-action game based on the case and gathers six women who each embody a facet of Akihabara subculture. That premise is the hook: you are not watching a mystery about the incident, you are inside a production that keeps bleeding into it.

The official trailer (embedded above) makes the tone obvious fast: real streets, real actors, and the sense that every scene is withholding something. What the trailer only hints at is how much of it you can actually touch.

Three systems turn footage into an investigation

ZAPPING switches viewpoints between characters mid-story, so the same event can be re-read from another angle. SELECT branches the outcome through choices about who speaks and who acts. The 360-degree view lets you rotate fully inside live-action scenes to find the contextual details a fixed camera would hide — and Buddy Characters assist the analysis as the mystery deepens.

It releases September 16, 2026 on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. Whether the multi-angle structure holds up across a full campaign is the open question — but as a premise, "television you can rotate" is the most interesting pitch this week.
